ELYRIA, OH – Love Elyria—also known as Elyrians Helping Elyrians, is partnering with We Care Elyria to deliver restaurant meals to senior and/or disabled residents in need this Friday, May 8th.
The partnership begins the first round of deliveries for Love Elyria, a community-organized group devoted to supporting local restaurants during their closures, while providing delicious meals to residents at no cost through generous community donations.
“We came to the City and We Care as a group of residents eager to support Elyria businesses and residents, and are looking forward to our first delivery this Friday. Each week, we will support a different local restaurant, and work with area groups to provide meals to various populations,” said Dan Bragg, lead organizer for Love Elyria.
We Care Elyria has been providing free food boxes for seniors and disabled Elyrians impacted by the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic since March 22 through a dynamic partnership between the City of Elyria and various local churches, faith-based
organizations, and nonprofits.
“When we began this collaborative, we knew the possibilities were endless, and the giving, community-minded spirit of Elyrians would encourage folks to get involved in innovative ways. We’re excited to help with this first delivery, and look forward to seeing
more Elyrians receiving food support during this time” said Mayor Frank Whitfield.
Friday’s deliveries begin at 12:30 PM with a starting location of City Hall. People interested in volunteering for either organization are encouraged to visit their Facebook pages at Facebook.com/ElyriaCares and Facebook.com/LoveElyria, respectively.
