OVERVIEW

Neighborhood Watch is one of the oldest and best-known crime prevention concepts in North America, dating back to the late 1960’s. Elyria’s Neighborhood Block Watch Program was created to build neighborhood cohesion and address concerns throughout the City—one block at a time. Our ultimate mission is to improve the quality of life for every resident in the City of Elyria.

Goals of Elyria’s Neighborhood Block Watch Program include:

  • Providing a process for neighbors to get to know each other and work together in a program of mutual assistance.
  • Encouraging and training residents to be observant and to provide a pathway to  report crimes, unsafe situations and problems.
  • Informing and advising residents on issues pertaining to safety and city services.
  • Providing a forum for ongoing dialogue and feedback between city residents and city leadership.
  • Making all pertinent crime information and enforcement efforts available to neighborhood residents.
