Trick-or-Treat in Elyria will be from 6:00 to 7:30 PM on Saturday, October 31, 2020. Guardians/Parents are asked to accompany minors on their rounds.
The City cannot determine how families celebrate, but, per guidelines provided by the State of Ohio, recommend:
- Wear a mask (in addition to a costume mask) – trick-or-treaters older than 2 years of age, as well as persons handing out candy are encouraged to mask up;
- Please do not place “group” buckets out where multiple individuals grab treats; with a gloved hand, distribute candy individually by placing directly in their bag, versus hand;
- Assign treat hand-out duties to one member of a household;
- Avoid going door-to-door in clusters;
- Trick-or-treat with members of your own household
- Take hand sanitizer and use it frequently
Residents unable/unwilling to participate are encouraged to keep their porch lights off.
Safety guidelines and additional recommendations can be found on the Ohio Department of Health Website.
Please remember to only trick-or-treat at houses that have designated their participation by leaving on their porch light.
