Elyria, OH – The City of Elyria is proud to announce that it has been awarded a $325,000 grant from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) through the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF). This funding will support the development of the West Park Inclusive Playground, a project aimed at creating an accessible and engaging outdoor recreation space for residents of all ages and abilities.
The LWCF program prioritizes the acquisition and development of public outdoor recreation facilities, and the West Park Inclusive Playground aligns with this mission by promoting accessibility and inclusivity in Elyria’s park system. The new playground will feature modern, adaptive play equipment designed to ensure that children and families, regardless of ability, can enjoy a safe and enriching outdoor experience.
“This is a great investment for West Park,” said Mayor Kevin Brubaker. “We are committed to ensuring our parks provide recreational activities for all Elyrians to enjoy. This grant will go along way towards making that vision a reality.”
The City of Elyria will work closely with ODNR to complete the project. Updates on the progress of the West Park Inclusive Playground will be shared with the community as the project moves forward.
