A note from the Mayor’s Office, RE: Fireworks Complaints
We have received several complaints about fireworks. I have asked the Elyria Police Department to increase enforcement of the City of Elyria’s fireworks ordinance. Two officers will be dedicated exclusively to fireworks calls each evening through mid-July, except in cases of emergencies.
Please call the EPD non-emergency number at (440) 323-3302 to report your fireworks concerns. Remember, 911 should only be used for emergencies.
REMINDER: According to City Ordinance, authorized fireworks may only be set off during this holiday on Thursday, July 4th, between 8-11:00 pm. The use of fireworks outside this date and time may result in fines up to $1,000 and/or six months jail time.
Thank you to the residents for reaching out to us with your concerns and giving us a chance to respond. I’d also like to thank EPD for assisting us with this solution.
Please have a safe and fun holiday this week, and be sure to join us for the City’s Independence Day Celebration on Friday, July 5th at West Park. The festivities begin at 7:00 pm and the fireworks display begins at 10:15.
Take Care,
Mayor Brubaker
